Genesis 37:4-9 (KJV)
4 And when his brethren saw that their father loved him more than all his brethren, they hated him, and could not speak peaceably unto him.
5 And Joseph dreamed a dream, and he told it his brethren: and they hated him yet the more.
6 And he said unto them, Hear, I pray you, this dream which I have dreamed:
7 For, behold, we were binding sheaves in the field, and, lo, my sheaf arose, and also stood upright; and, behold, your sheaves stood round about, and made obeisance to my sheaf.
8 And his brethren said to him, Shalt thou indeed reign over us? or shalt thou indeed have dominion over us? And they hated him yet the more for his dreams, and for his words.
9 And he dreamed yet another dream, and told it his brethren, and said, Behold, I have dreamed a dream more; and, behold, the sun and the moon and the eleven stars made obeisance to me.
Joseph had a dream of greatness. It showed his brothers honoring him. Then he had another dream and this one depicted his brothers actually bowing down to him and paying obeisance to him. It was difficult for the brothers to stomach this ‘insult’ from their younger brother and led to them seriously hating him and wishing to harm him.
I do not want to judge the Joseph story much today, but maybe he should have been quiet because of the nature of the dream? However it was their persecution of him that led to his own glorification and the fulfilment of the dream.
I challenge you to become passionate again and again for the pictures of success that you see in your heart. Lock yourself up and pray and say “God, what is Your picture of my future?” Then pursue it with all your heart.
You do not need any permission to dream.
You do not need any permission to dream big.
You do not need any permission to pursue your dreams;
Just “Get on with it,” as the British like to say.
